Acer palmatum
Dissectum
Goshiki Shidare refers to five colors weeping. It in essence refers to the balance of diversity. This lovely yet somewhat tender cultivar can have a multitude of colors including pink, white, red, green, and purple. These occur as insets or small patches in the tiny dissected leaves. This cultivar has strikingly bright green twigs and stems as well. Folks talk of the similarities between Toyama Nishiki and Goshiki Shidare, but they are remarkably different. Goshiki Shidare is timid but decidedly has more color. Toyama Nishiki will make a larger, more robust specimen, but displays more pink and white on a red leaf. Toyama Nishiki also tends to have a larger leaf overall. Both are very beautiful.
