Acer palmatum
This introduction was found by Bob McCaffery from Alpine, NJ. Bob discovered the broom growing on a tree in his garden in 2020. Brian Sherman of Pages Run Nursery was given the opportunity to name this cultivar. Brian chose the name Susan's Grace to honor his late cousin Susan Oglevie Gonzalez who lost her battle with cancer in 2024. Bob recalls that the parent tree in his garden came from the west coast in 2005. The tree itself has leaves with a prominently truncated middle lobe. The color emerges vibrant red and darkens to rich purple, even with shade.
