Tsuma Beni

Acer palmatum

About

Tsuma Beni is an old cultivar not nearly available enough. Translated, Tsuma Beni means Red Nail, referring to the beautiful outline of red on the leaf tip and edges in Spring. Confusion exists between Tsuma Beni and Tsuma Gaki, but grown near they are remarkably different. Tsuma Beni grows strongly upward, with lots of branching, with the leaves often poking upward. This contrasts strongly with Tsuma Gaki more horizontal overall habit, with a much more open form and softly dropping larger leaves with more yellow.
