Acer palmatum
This beautiful cultivar is a seedling that was originally under observation by Harold Johnston. While this has somewhat smallish soft green palmate leaves in Spring and scrumptious Fall color in warm oranges and reds, this is a Pinebark lover's dream! Comparing it to other popular cork bark maples, this variety is slow to cork, and has a very appealing transition period where the warty texture floats in an olive colored sleek branch color. This is not as corky as Hubble's Super Cork, and definitely slower than Arakawa.
