Quercus phillyreoides
Really attractive evergreen oak native to southern China, the Ryukyu Islands, and Japan. Reportedly this is used as a street tree in some European cities. The leaves are very glossy green, almost holly like, with gently toothed edges. So far, my plant has very slow, measured growth. Reportedly hardy to Zone 7, which we are, this seems to have survived a brutal ice storm and subsequent bitter cold with nary a leaf lost. Very impressed.
