War Bonnet

Beautiful Japanese Black Pine has long green needles that reportedly turn a vivid yellow gold in Winter. Often these yellow needle varieties need more consistent cold than we get in Nashville, but it is a dandy cultivar regardless. The name War Bonnet is derived from the Spring new shoots, or candles, that resemble fanciful white feathers of a Native American war bonnet.
