Congo

Syringa vulgaris

About

Congo is a somewhat smaller scale lilac with decadent violet-purple fragrant blooms. The foliage is a nice deeper darker green shade, and holds up well in the sun. Congo, like Katherine Havemeyer, was an introduction by Victor Lemoine from Nancy, France in 1896.
